Life continues past the months of June, July, and August and so must the counselors of Day Camp.

Where did the last 7 years go?

I was taking some quiet time and found myself doing a retro-viewing of the Blog. I don't know if anyone reads this anymore but if you do I would just like to tell you how amazing the time I spent with you was. Day Camp was a huge deal for me for most of my life. I loved the smell of the Redwoods, the goldfish crackers with friends, the lanyards.... Wow.

I want to thank you all for your patience as I grew. Man we had fun. There were highs (post 4.01.2005) and lows (post 4.04.2006) just to name two of them. We all made many friends, dated some, married others...Wow.

I know you all have things that you would have never had if not for Day Camp. Hell, Fidget's and Burt's kids wouldn't even exist! To name some of mine:

1. I would have never gone to school at Bethany.
2. I would have never found my love for Video.
3. I would have never found my love for my major (Communication).
4. I would have never have lived in the Redwoods.
5. I would never have met DeeDee, and in effect been set up on a blind date with an amazing woman.

Just to name a very few...Wow.

What are some of yours?

P.s. Spideyland is a better song than 3 month summer. HA!

I'll post soon with some updates. It's good to hear that the past few years have meant so much to you too.

One of the greastest tragedies I suffered in the past year was leaving my DC 05 sweatshirt in the PLNU library for an hour and returning to find it gone, never to turn up again. Maybe Flip will spot it in Egypt.

Some of my highs:

1. Being a star in 3 DC Rules Videos
2. Sitting under the Green Bridge with my kids
3. Going to the Boardwalk for cheap everything
4. Watching Jack light up when the kids get into his songs
5. Having reunions and smaller alternate camps during the year
6. Attending Jav & Jayber's wedding and the Burns' wedding barefoot most of the time
7. Cleaning the Skit closet on a Friday night

I've truly grown from all of the people that I've met at DC. From seeing the beauty of Fish's skills of communicating his love to people to having Rudy and Snorts pray that God would bless me with a broken spirit so I might turn into Him in a new way. All has been great, tough and beautiful to see from my point of view, and I'm sure many others. I love you guys more than I know where/how to communicate. Thanks, Spidey.

Speaking of Jack, how can one man sing about misquotes for so many years and not go crazy?

Nice post, Spidey. I dunno what it takes to keep a defunct blog like this rolling but whatever that is I'll do it so we can revisit like this ten, twenty years from now as needed.

My day camp family has meant to much to me. I think of how sad I am that over the past three years the camp has gone on without me. But I guess such is life. I love coming here and catching up on peoples lives. Spidey thanks for reminding me for looking backwards... some of those posts I don't even remember reading but there are my misspelt comments strewn about.

I regret every day that passes that I don't call, don't email you and please know that I love you all. you are my heart and make me who I am.

Without DC I.... :
1.) Wouldn't Have fallen deeply in love with uncrustables.
2.) wouldn't have Been introduced to, as spiff would say: Heart wrenching emotional music.
3.) Wouldn't be able to annoy my Tad with lawn chants every morning.
4.) Wouldn't feel I had the confidence to be a Spiritual Leader. I wouldn't ever think I could write meaningful devotional or be a team leader.
5.) Wouldn't have been blessed by such a really great group of friends who would travel down to Bakersfield, endure hot temps and smash into the Cabalka home and support me on my wedding day. It meant so much to me that you were there.
6.) wouldn't be so close to my sister now.
7.) Have gotten the heads up on Obama years ago.
8.) Wouldn't have so many friends on facebook.
9.) Wouldn't have the knowledge to set up my own giant slip.n.slide at my house... when i get one.

THanks Spidey for reminding us of that sweet time in all our lives.

As for #2, Chilly, I'm now the one most into the music I disliked listening to on Craft Nights in 04! Crazy, huh? It's gets me through the tough times. Thinking of you guys helps alot when things are sketchy.
