Help!

Okay, I need a name for a business. And I need it by tomorrow afternoon.

In the event that MH doesn't employ me, I'll be doing video work on a freelance basis, 'cause, confound it, I came down here to do video. So I need a business name to declare on my Schedule C, to write off business-related expenses like tequila and blow, to represent me on contracts, to produce going-out-of-business signs, etc.

I'm drawing a blank and you guys are pretty creative and bored most of the time, apparently, so help me out.

I don't really want my name in the business and I plan to use it as a platform for graphic design as well as video. So just about the worst possible suggestion is: Meyer Video. If the .com is available for it that's bonus points. I'd like this name to stick with me for awhile.

Please. Help.

A Starbucks card customized with my business logo (okay and maybe a little cash on it) goes to anyone whose suggestion I use.

Gratefully yours,

G8R

P.S. Yeah, I totally realize this is the third post in nearly a row asking for naming suggestions. You guys are clearly that good. And I'm also sorry to Spiff for pushing his really cool post down the page way before it deserved.

How about "I worked for nothing all summer and went above and beyond my job title so what does that say about me? Hire me!" or "Gatorade" or "Dan Meyer's escort serice" or "Panzy Pictures" or "Screwed Over- I would rather be somewhere else"

...films a la DCM ? Spifferecording? Vlix? Good luck, man. No matter what you will be bigger than the alias you go by.

I actually think that something with DCM could be totally funny. Especially because you could use the D to stand for Dan or Design or whatever, and then make up random crap for the rest - but we'd still all know the true meaning.

DCM Productions
DCM Entertainment
.... or something like that.

I think you should go with a cheesy video pun, like "Shooting for the Stars" or "Shutterly Amazing" ...sorry... I hate buisness puns. Especially coffee ones, those are the worst.

Really though - once you find your "word/title" I think you should use Design in there somewhere. I like that word, sounds, Official. "Productions" sort of sounds high-school-project-for-extra-income kindof way.

Uf. Glad I got a day extension on this deadline 'cause you guys are mostly horsin' around with my life and I don't have _any_ ideas.

I like "design" and I like "creative." I was into "Elevated Design" for a bit, 'cause I'm tall y'know, but that's already out there. Same with "Creative Consortium". I love "Pixel Movers" and "Image Movers" which have been around forever. These are things I like. Note: no acronyms in any of them. Any help any help any more help?

Ok, so it's possible that you're better at this. What about Meyer Video?

I love Cineme. Sorry. Why don't you just transfer the name over with a catchy slogan/description like "bring out the best in your memories" Wait. That quote totally assumes you're like a wedding filmer or something. What is it you want to do with this new name?

Vertical Limit
Heightened Pictures/Design (whatever)
Vertical Heights
...or just plain Vertical Designs
Vertigo (U2 has a song titled that so that means it's cool right?)
Extreme Elevation
...sorry if those suck, but they are what came to me so thought I would share them :)
...off to bed...good luck Pal! No matter what your stuff will be memorable :)

Thanks for brainstorming, everybody. I probably would've told me to buzz off if I were all of you Here are my current front-runners. I'm going with "image" or "picture" as the anchor, since this won't exclusively be a "design" shop.

Here's the list. Any thoughts?

proof pictures
pond pictures
panda pictures ('cause darnit there's a great logo in there somewhere)
elevated production
eager image
early image
enduring image
polar pictures

And even though these aren't your suggestions, you guys offered a lot of inspiration. I lean towards "Elevated Production" and "Eager Image."

honestly i kinda like polar pictures a lot....okay well maybe a lot more than a lot.

and gator i am so excited for you, and i mean more excited than michael jackson at an 8 year olds birthday party.

i like "elevated" something... and i like enduring images. sounds comforting and long lasting.

and rudy... over the line. and did you already pass through? or even go? i dont know. call me.

Go with Panda or Polar.

Those are the most memorable for word-of-mouth.

Blogger Alisa Marie said...

oohohoh! with eager, you could have a beaver in you logo!

or not.

but if your leaning toward the easy logo thing i'd go with polar. you'd have to explain panda... which you don't have a back story with. I'm not keen on any idea that doesn't embody who you are... You're not a panda bear, or from china.

I just drafted my business plan. My app't with the bank is in a few hours. With a staff of one, the largest production house in Felton is called "Elevated Image."

Thanks a mil for all your help. I'll be pitching something in the mail with the company logo on it (as soon as I have a company logo) to everyone who gave an effort.
