I plan to put out a solo ep and play gigs. I am actually playing a 30 min opening set here in alameda june 9. $5. I am also playing drums for a punk band and we're gonna be playing a mess of shows at some pretty decent venues and hopefully getting some kind of recording out. so a lot to look forward on the music front.

10:04 PM

Blogger Matthew K. said...

i'm also gonna be seeing a mess of great shows. Beck, Radiohead, Danielson, Bloc Party w/ Broken Social Scene, Walkmen...etc.

10:06 PM

Blogger Dan Meyer said...

So how the h-e-l-l does someone score tickets to the Radiohead tour? I coulda sworn you had to volunteer units of blood for those. Sold out in ten seconds or something.

10:07 PM

Blogger Matthew K. said...

quick digression, but in order to make this seem more social, check out these prints my london roommate's dad does. he's got some really awesome stuff on there http://www.jamesclaussen.com/

10:08 PM

Blogger Matthew K. said...

my friend greg scored 4. michael, greg, my girl and i all are in...and i might be getting more tickets. but hey, to make you more jealous, i can give you their copenhagen show from the 6th and you can hear how absolutely amazing they are in concert.

10:10 PM

Blogger Dan Meyer said...

If I slobbered over Radiohead I might be jealous. As is suck an egg.

So now I'm bored with your summer plans.

Give me five websites you visit on a daily basis. Or if you're healthier than me, go with weekly visits. And for diversity sake and on account of Bro's still pretty young, let's keep 'em non-pornographic.

10:15 PM

Blogger Matthew K. said...

well, you got me hooked on websites i am ashamed to say i visit daily. but my first five looks like this (i have somewhere around 13 daily site...that i check morn, noon and before bed).

1.www.pitchforkmedia.com
2.www.uncrate.com
3.www.tinymixtapes.com
4.daycamp.blogspot.com
5.www.buzzpatrol.com

10:17 PM

Blogger Matthew K. said...

here, i'll give you 5 more

10:17 PM

Blogger Dan Meyer said...

I don't know why I brought this up. I really have to confess now that I visit 35 websites and read 16 RSS feeds daily. 'Cept talking to Annie it's probably my favorite hour after school. There's a very easy and important argument to make that this is too. much. time. (and in truth, I'm looking forward to disconnecting a lot this summer) but I love knowing things. And knowing how to do things.

My indispensable five after the jump.

10:20 PM

Blogger Matthew K. said...

these are sights i'm more ashamed of. but hey, it's like the 25th post now, nobody is reading this still.

1.www.bestweekever.tv
2.www.geekologie.com
3. you got me hooked on www.thesuperficial.com
because of that i also go to
4.www.wwtdd.com
and as of late, since i am moving to the city, i keep a close tab on
5.http://www.craigslist.org/cgi-bin/search?areaID=1&subAreaID=1&query=&catAbbreviation=apa&minAsk=min&maxAsk=2200&bedrooms=3&neighborhood=

This is hilarious. I decided to take a brief study break and come check out the ol' blog - only to see two of my favorite people pounding away at the keys (27 comments as of when I started typing this comment). This is pretty fun there boys. Good to hear about your summer plans there matty boy. I can't believe you guys check that many websites a day. I try to read this site, Slate, a couple websites about California politics (the best one is www.newwestnotes.com - it's fricking amazing) - and all of that keeps me busy and away from things I should be doing. Good to hear you guys are keeping the web alive. In a few days I am going to check back on this site and look up a few of both of your suggestions. Good times.

Heh. That Tyler Durden site is kind of fun. There's just a vast market for anti-tabloid stuff right now. Truly, a great era.

Geekologie strikes me like a gizmodo.com, a site I had to purge because I just wasn't learning much of anything interesting.

The whole bday thing. Interesting comment Spiff made ... like there's a list of some sort just floating out there the taking.

Hey, as long as we're dumping pop culture confessionals out on the table. Here's my like fourth or fifth for the night:

I watch a lot of tv.

I know I know. But it's always in the service of multi-tasking. Some background noise while I Photoshop. No excuse, really, but teevee is so good right now. Do you watch? Have you heard?

10:47 PM

Blogger Matthew K. said...

hahaha, gator, you're an e-thug. eh, e-bully.

10:47 PM

Blogger Dan Meyer said...

Seriously, Shannon. How long?

10:48 PM

Blogger Matthew K. said...

because of my ever changing work schedule i can't dedicate my life to shows easily. i know there's some with decent writing out there...i read all about them on celeb gossip sites, ya know. but i am an adult swim addict. robot chicken, aqua teen hunger force, harvey birdman, sealab 2021, family guy...saved by the bell.

especially robot chicken though. i got season one the other day and never have i been so entertained.

10:49 PM

Blogger Dan Meyer said...

Yikes. Okay. Dropping the teevee discussion. Didn't realize we were still so heavy into animation.

And who watches teevee on the network's schedule, anyway? Judging from your terabyte-sized music stash, you know how BitTorrent works.

10:51 PM

Blogger Matthew K. said...

always looking for series dvd suggestions though...i think it's the inner control freak that stops me from watching tv when the show tells me to. if i had tivo my social life would be as lacking as the homework i turned in this semester.

10:52 PM

Blogger Matthew K. said...

i used to download shows on my pc. i had a killer video card that had a built tv tuner also and tivo-like functions. the 60 gigs of music are killing my harddrive and i have been too lazy to really work on my external.

10:54 PM

Blogger Dan Meyer said...

Whatev. There almost isn't any point to recommending something good to someone of your head-in-the-sand levels, but Veronica Mars is about the most fun I've had with a television all year. Season 1 out right now.

And so.

You can now choose to answer either/both of these:

1) A favorite experience at camp last summer.
2) A favorite counselor from camp last summer.

Why's for both.

10:55 PM

Blogger Dan Meyer said...

*sigh* It's a free blog I guess.

(But seriously, say anything bad about me OR Sushi and I delete your account.)

I've got a fav. My heels pounding down the hill several dozen feet behind Daff's. Frodo's car wheeling a U-turn in a parking lot across the street. Everyone trying to make it to the 76 station first in one of my favorite Ditch games on record.

Retching into the grass while Tues. held my hair back was also kind of fun. But in a different way.

Blogger Ryan Sears said...

Sushi... we all know - you can answer too.

11:03 PM

Blogger Dan Meyer said...

Better question for Sushi:

Beer you haven't tried?

11:03 PM

Blogger Matthew K. said...

experience: photo scavenger hunt, because fish's driving allowed me to have yet another near-death experience i walked away from.

counselor: umm, tough one. gotta say that kicken it with daff was always a good time and anybody who calls me from vegas telling me i need to drive down or catch the next flight asap is fav. counselor material for sure.

11:04 PM

Blogger Dan Meyer said...

Lately I've been brewing on the best idea for camp.

11:06 PM

haha, i have a list of 50 some odd beers that i tried in london that i like to glance at from time to time. there's something about enjoying a guinness at the factory or a moroccan beer in morocco that just can't be beat. red stripe and pilsner urquell are always favs of mine. but nothing beats a forty of mickey's.

Corona is lame unless you have tons of lime, and even then I'd rather have a margherita. Best Mexican beer is Dox Equis Amber fo sho' - it kiiillllls the competition. Runner up is Negra Modela.

It's even bad with sake. Sapporro is Japan's bud-light.

11:11 PM

Blogger Matthew K. said...

sapporo is a favorite of mike and i's. especially sapporo reserve. nothing says awesomeness like that can does. it's also a key ingredient to the legitimate sake bomb.

11:12 PM

Blogger Matthew K. said...

do you honestly feel this way fish? btw, the best part of european drinking is that there really is no "bud-lite" there. for the most part, even their cheap beer is great. like stella artois, which is the cheapest in stores there and here is regarded as being a decent choice. the brits like to call it "wife beater" and say only chavs drink it.

11:14 PM

11:17 PM

Blogger Ryan Sears said...

Seriously - I don't like Sapporro. I am not much of a fan of lighter style beers (the one key exception being Pislner Urquell), and Sapporro strikes me in the same way. I too have had it with sake bombs, and it's the only time I will ever have it. Other than that I stay away.

11:20 PM

Blogger Ryan Sears said...

I think Stella Artois is good; another good dinner type of beer cause it's not too filling but has a good taste. That's funny it's not quite so highly regarded on the other side of the pond.

The thesis is coming....slowly.... but it is coming. It is all I do - well, that and get distracted by the blog and stuff.

and by the way, spidey you owe me a thank you because when you were trashed allowed you to put your arm around me in the car eventhough it was super awkward and i was nice to you.....and that was a funny night. i do beleive he was drunk after 1 sip of his corona....i have the picture and it is legendary.
